The World of Wine on the Costa Daurada

The vine, that outstanding symbol of the Mediterranean culture, is one of the values that identify the Costa Daurada, both for the huge areas given over to its cultivation and for the singularity of its products. With its six denominations of origin for wine –DO Priorat, DO Montsant, DO Tarragona, DO Penedès, DO Conca de Barberà and DO Terra Alta– and much of the territory also included in the cava designation of origin, the Costa Daurada has a wide variety of vineyard landscapes. The almost centenarian vines cultivated on the steep slopes and terraces of Priorat County and the Montsant Mountains make up an austere landscape that contrasts intensely with the plains of the Camp de Tarragona and El Penedès. The more rolling landscapes of the Conca de Barberà add even more diversity to the possible scenes. This agricultural mosaic is shared with other traditional Mediterranean crops such as olives, almonds, hazelnuts and cereals,
